How to Legally Use Content Published on K-Scar

All content on this site is protected by the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, European Union and French intellectual property laws, and other national laws, and cannot be reproduced without permission. This sheet summarizes the conditions under which photographs, text, and other content published on k-scar.com may be used by third parties, as stated in the website’s terms and conditions of use.

1. Personal or Educational Use

Downloading images or text for reasonable personal or educational use (for example, by a teacher in a school wishing to illustrate a lesson) is permitted without prior agreement.

2. Use for Publication

A license agreement is always mandatory before using any photograph or other content from k-scar.com for publication, whether the intended use is commercial or non-commercial. Any publication not authorized in advance will be treated as content theft and will result in a takedown order issued to the relevant internet service provider, a de-indexing order issued to Google and other search engines, and legal action against the perpetrator.

3. Non-Commercial License

Non-commercial use (for example, on a free, non-profit institutional website, or a personal blog) is free of charge, subject to prior agreement and mandatory credit (©Roland de Courson).

4. Commercial License

Commercial use (for example, to illustrate an article on a news website even if that website is free to access, to illustrate a website promoting tourism in a region, or to sell products) is subject to prior agreement, mandatory credit (©Roland de Courson) and a fee.
